The Jollibee Group (PSE: JFC) has earned the top spot among Philippine brands in the 2025 Sustainability Perceptions Index released by Brand Finance, the world’s leading brand valuation consultancy, reflecting its strengthened reputation in social integrity, environmental responsibility, and ethical governance.

The Jollibee Group is also the only Philippine restaurant brand in the country to break into the top 10 of the index, affirming its distinct reputation for leadership in sustainability within the food service sector. Globally, the company is placed among the top 20 restaurant brands.

The Brand Finance Sustainability Perceptions Index 2025 ranks global brands based on the value attached to their sustainability perceptions. Brand value is determined through a rigorous analysis of brand strength, via market research data, and financial performance. The Sustainability Perceptions Index highlights companies that have significant value tied to perceived sustainability commitment in the minds of stakeholders.

“This recognition is a reflection of the growing trust that stakeholders around the world place in our commitment to sustainability,” said Pepot Miñana, Jollibee Group’s global chief sustainability officer. “It is both a proud moment and a strong call to action for us to continue advancing our initiatives on the ground together with our employees, suppliers, franchisees, and partners.”

Joy for Tomorrow sustainability agenda

The Jollibee Group’s “Joy for Tomorrow” agenda guides the company’s sustainability strategies and long-term investments. These include initiatives that promote responsible sourcing, food safety, employee welfare, community support, energy efficiency, and good governance.

In 2024, the Jollibee Group demonstrated significant progress in its sustainability efforts across its Food, People, and Planet pillars. In the Philippines, its manufacturing sites achieved a 32% reduction in energy consumption, a 33% reduction in water use, and a 44% reduction in waste generated per metric ton of products produced versus 2020 baselines.

The Group also installed over 16,800 solar panels, generating approximately 9.1 megawatts of clean energy, and successfully diverted 62% of Philippine manufacturing waste from landfills. In partnership with employee volunteers, the company has planted over 21,500 mangrove propagules, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship and climate resilience.

“Brand Finance’s Sustainability Perceptions Index 2025 is a barometer of how stakeholders perceive a brand’s contribution to a more sustainable future,” said Miñana. “Being ranked number one in the Philippines affirms that our efforts are resonating and that we are moving forward with purpose.”

“Sustainability is fast becoming a key driver of how Philippine brands are judged. Jollibee proves that powerful ESG stories – from championing financial inclusion to committing to responsible sourcing – can win hearts locally and make an impact globally. The stage is set for more homegrown brands to amplify their sustainability voice and turn values into lasting customer loyalty,” said Alex Haigh, Brand Finance’s managing director for Asia-Pacific.

Brand Finance is a global leader in brand valuation and strategy. Headquartered in London, Brand Finance operates in over 25 countries, conducting more than 6,000 brand valuations, supported by original market research, and publishes over 100 reports which rank brands across all sectors and countries. The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For

The post The Channel Factories We’ve Been Waiting For appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Visions of future technology are often prescient about the broad strokes while flubbing the details. The tablets in “2001: A Space Odyssey” do indeed look like iPads, but you never see the astronauts paying for subscriptions or wasting hours on Candy Crush.  Channel factories are one vision that arose early in the history of the Lightning Network to address some challenges that Lightning has faced from the beginning. Despite having grown to become Bitcoin’s most successful layer-2 scaling solution, with instant and low-fee payments, Lightning’s scale is limited by its reliance on payment channels. Although Lightning shifts most transactions off-chain, each payment channel still requires an on-chain transaction to open and (usually) another to close. As adoption grows, pressure on the blockchain grows with it. The need for a more scalable approach to managing channels is clear. Channel factories were supposed to meet this need, but where are they? In 2025, subnetworks are emerging that revive the impetus of channel factories with some new details that vastly increase their potential. They are natively interoperable with Lightning and achieve greater scale by allowing a group of participants to open a shared multisig UTXO and create multiple bilateral channels, which reduces the number of on-chain transactions and improves capital efficiency. Achieving greater scale by reducing complexity, Ark and Spark perform the same function as traditional channel factories with new designs and additional capabilities based on shared UTXOs.  Channel Factories 101 Channel factories have been around since the inception of Lightning. A factory is a multiparty contract where multiple users (not just two, as in a Dryja-Poon channel) cooperatively lock funds in a single multisig UTXO. They can open, close and update channels off-chain without updating the blockchain for each operation. Only when participants leave or the factory dissolves is an on-chain transaction…
