PANews reported on December 23 that Vince Zampella, co-founder of Call of Duty, founder of Respawn Entertainment, and head of the Battlefield series, died in a car accident in Los Angeles at the age of 55. He was one of the most influential developers in the shooter game industry.

Zampella's career began with Medal of Honor: United Assault, followed by the founding of Infinity Ward, where he launched the Call of Duty series and led the development of Modern Warfare. Due to a dispute with Activision, he left in 2010 to found Respawn Entertainment, releasing well-known games such as Titanfall and Apex Legends. In 2021, he was commissioned by EA to reboot the Battlefield series, and Battlefield 6, released this year, has achieved tremendous commercial success.

TGA founder Geoff Keighley stated, "Vince was not only a visionary game developer, but also a leader who prioritized player experience and honesty. His passing is a tremendous loss to the gaming industry." Zampella's work profoundly influenced the development of global shooter games, and his departure is deeply regrettable.
