Unity Bank rolls out new Unifi app with tighter security and faster payments

Unity Bank has released a new update to its mobile banking app, Unifi, introducing enhanced security features and improved methods for customers to pay bills, send money, and complete everyday transactions.

The new version, Unifi 2.3, expands quick-access features, improves QR code payments, and strengthens protection around digital activity. The bank stated that the update is part of its broader initiative to enhance mobile banking safety and usability, particularly for retail and younger customers.

Unity Bank said the changes are designed to support real-time transactions while protecting customer data, as more Nigerians continue to move their banking activities away from physical branches to mobile platforms.

According to the bank, the update reflects how customers already use Unifi and the feedback they provide through regular interactions.

With the latest upgrade to Unifi, we are responding directly to these expectations by enhancing functionality, strengthening security, and simplifying key payment and transaction journeys,” said Adenike Abimbola, Divisional Head, Retail, SME, Digital Banking & Fintech Partnerships at Unity Bank

“As mobile banking increasingly defines how people interact with financial services, Unifi is central to our strategy of delivering intuitive, reliable, and inclusive digital solutions. We will continue to invest in technology partnerships and platform enhancements that support financial inclusion, drive adoption, and improve overall customer experience,” she said.

Unifi was introduced to help Unity Bank expand its retail customer base, especially among younger, mobile-focused users. It has since become a primary channel for customer onboarding and daily transactions.

The latest update allows users to complete transfers, airtime purchases, bill payments, and QR-enabled transactions more easily on Android and iOS devices. The bank expects this upgrade to reduce transaction delays and enhance reliability across its digital services.

With more banks focusing on mobile banking, Unity Bank’s latest update makes Unifi a better choice for customers who want fast, secure, and branch-free banking.

The move underscores the scale of Nvidia’s investment and aligns with the UK’s broader AI policy goals.
