The Trump administration failed Tuesday to secure an indictment tied to a video featuring Democratic lawmakers urging members of the military and intelligence communities not to comply with unlawful orders, according to NBC News.

Three sources familiar with the matter told the outlet that prosecutors attempted – and failed – to advance an indictment connected to the video, which President Donald Trump previously claimed amounted to “seditious behavior.” It wasn't immediately clear how many of the lawmakers the MAGA administration sought to indict or whether the effort would be addressed in future court proceedings, NBC News reported.

“The indictment pursued by the office of U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro is the latest example of the Justice Department targeting the president’s perceived political opponents,” according to NBC News. “The government attorneys assigned to the case are political appointees, not career Justice Department prosecutors, according to a source familiar with the investigation.”

The FBI sought interviews with the six lawmakers who appeared in the video posted to social media in November, including Reps. Jason Crow (D-CO), Maggie Goodlander (D-NH), and Chris Deluzio (D-PA) and Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), as well as Sens. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and Elissa Slotkin (D-MI).
