WisdomTree, Inc. has taken a major step toward modernizing how mutual fund shares trade and settle by announcing 24/7 trading and instant settlement for its tokenized money market fund. The move, unveiled today, applies to the WisdomTree Treasury Money Market Digital Fund (WTGXX) and, according to the firm, is the first time registered tokenized mutual fund shares will be permitted to trade and instantly settle around the clock inside the U.S. regulatory perimeter using a dealer-principal liquidity model.

The program replaces the familiar T+1 delay that has long defined money market and mutual fund operations, letting investors shift cash into yield-bearing assets in real time. For firms that run onchain treasury operations, particularly crypto-native institutions, the ability to move funds and capture yield without going offchain is a clear efficiency win. WisdomTree says the new capability reduces cash drag and unlocks the liquidity advantages that tokenized assets promise.

Making the functionality possible required coordinated regulatory approvals and a structural change that the company likened to the last major shift seen when ETFs were introduced. Multiple WisdomTree entities obtained exemptive relief from the U.S. securities regulator, and the broker-dealer arm of the firm received approval to act in a principal capacity.

24/7 Trading for Tokenized Money Market Fund

WisdomTree Securities, Inc., the company’s broker-dealer subsidiary, received FINRA clearance to expand its activities to include principal trading of registered fund shares, laying the groundwork for 24/7 liquidity in tokenized money market fund shares with settlement facilitated by stablecoins. WisdomTree says that, initially, trades will settle from broker-dealer inventory rather than directly with the fund, preserving the fund’s existing primary-market structure while enabling continuous execution.

“Instant settlement has been one of the true promises of blockchains and RWA tokenization,” said Will Peck, Head of Digital Assets at WisdomTree. He thanked regulators for their engagement and characterized the change as an improvement to the investor experience that shows how blockchain can act as a new set of rails for capital markets.

The functionality will be made available to institutional clients through the firm’s institutional platform, WisdomTree Connect™, which the company says has already been used to help crypto-native institutions access yield-bearing investments without going offchain. With tokenized shares already supporting peer-to-peer transfers, the new dealer-based liquidity model will let investors move value across wallets, accounts, and counterparties around the clock.

WisdomTree envisions that other broker-dealers could participate over time, subject to conditions, although the initial market-making capacity will come from WisdomTree Securities acting as principal up to its balance-sheet limits. WisdomTree also unveiled continuous dividend accrual for WTGXX, which uses blockchain timestamps to allocate each day’s income proportionally based on the exact time a verified wallet held tokens.

That means token holders who move shares intraday via peer-to-peer transfers will still receive a pro rata share of interest for the portion of the day they owned the tokens, an intraday precision that traditional mutual funds cannot match. Stablecoin settlement will begin with USDC as the initially supported token for trades, and the company said the dealer-principal approach preserves the fund’s investment process while adding onchain flexibility.

WisdomTree framed the announcement as part of a broader push into tokenized real-world assets and digital services, referencing its institutional platform and blockchain-native wallet as distribution channels that could extend this functionality to other client types in the future. The firm also pointed to its expansion into private markets through the acquisition of a farmland platform, signaling that tokenization and digital rails are becoming central to its product roadmap.

With roughly $160.8 billion in assets under management reported in its last filing, WisdomTree’s move is likely to draw attention from both traditional asset managers and crypto firms watching how regulatory-compliant tokenization can change liquidity, settlement, and the very mechanics of fund ownership. For investors and treasurers seeking frictionless, intraday access to yield, the market will now get a practical example of what “instant settlement” looks like in a regulated U.S. product.
