Trump delivers tone deaf speech to farmers impacted by his tariff policies

President Donald Trump praised himself for constructing a $400 million ballroom while addressing farmers affected by his tariff policies at a White House event Friday.

Trump told the gathered farmers he had "given" them $12 billion in aid to offset tariff fallout, then shifted focus to admire the ballroom under construction.

He declared the project the finest ballroom in the world, noting every president for 150 years had requested such a space.

Trump expressed enthusiasm about the construction, mentioning equipment like Caterpillars and John Deeres visible from his vantage point. He also shared hopes to host King Charles III in the completed ballroom.

The contrast between discussing agricultural aid and extensively praising a luxury construction project drew attention to competing priorities as Trump addressed farmers dealing with economic hardship from his trade policies.
