When Taylor Swift released her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, she tried something new. While the full-length was available across a variety of formats — including dozens of editions on CD and vinyl — the songs featured on the set’s tracklist could only be purchased as a complete project, at least initially. If fans wanted to download even one cut from the blockbuster, they had to buy the whole thing, though all 12 tunes were available to stream à la carte.
In the past few weeks, Swift has made a select few songs from this era available to buy individually. She started with lead single “The Fate of Ophelia,” and in the United Kingdom, she has now put on offer three other tracks. Whenever Swift uploads anything to a streaming site or digital download store, it becomes a bestseller, and the singer-songwriter sees multiple cuts that had already reached the most important songs tally in the U.K. become bestsellers for the first time.
“Opalite” Shines as it Becomes Taylor Swift’s Latest Bestseller
“Opalite” is the big winner among Swift’s new top sellers in the U.K. The track has turned out to be the second most popular tune from The Life of a Showgirl, behind “The Fate of Ophelia.”
“Opalite” opens inside the top 10 on both the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts. It starts highest on the downloads list, where it begins its time at No. 5, and it comes in seventh place on the general ranking of the bestselling tunes of any style and via any format throughout the U.K.
How Many Top 10 Hits Has Taylor Swift Charted?
As “Opalite” arrives, Swift scores her twenty-second top 10 on the Official Singles Sales chart. She’s up to 28 top 10s on the downloads-only ranking and well over one hundred appearances on each of the rosters.
“Opalite” Appears Inside the Top 10 on Every Chart
As it becomes a bestseller for the first time, “Opalite” can also be found inside the top 10 on two other rankings in its fourth frame. The Life of a Showgirl tune dips from No. 4 to No. 8 on the Official Streaming chart. Purchases help the catchy pop cut rebound on the Official Singles list, as it pushes from No. 5 to No. 4 after topping out in second place when it first arrived.
Taylor Swift’s “The Life of a Showgirl” and “Elizabeth Taylor”
A pair of Life of a Showgirl tracks manage to launch on the same purchase-only rosters as “Opalite,” though in much lower spaces. “The Life of a Showgirl” — the title track from the new album and a collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter — debuts at No. 66 on the downloads ranking and No. 70 on the Official Singles Sales chart. Meanwhile, “Elizabeth Taylor” starts on those rosters at Nos. 88 and 93, respectively.
“The Fate of Ophelia” Returns to No. 1
Renewed interest in all things connected to The Life of a Showgirl helps not only the album, but also its first single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” across a number of charts in the U.K. Even as the tune holds in second place on the Official Streaming tally and falls from the summit to No. 2 on the Official Singles chart, “The Fate of Ophelia” becomes the top-selling track in the U.K. once more. The first single pushed from the bestselling full-length hits No. 1 again on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads rosters, returning to its highest placement yet three weeks into its lifespan.
What Are the Biggest Songs from Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl?
All but one song featured on The Life of a Showgirl can currently be located on the Official Streaming chart, four weeks into the album’s time on the tallies. Each cut is falling, which is not unusual at this stage in the set’s tenure.

The Official Charts Company only allows every artist to claim three spaces on the Official Singles chart as a lead act at one time. Once again, Swift fills all three inside the top 10, with “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite,” and “Elizabeth Taylor” landing at Nos. 2, 4, and 8, respectively.
The Life of a Showgirl is Almost Uniformly Falling on the Charts
The Life of a Showgirl is also on the downswing on almost every roster. The set remains inside the highest field on the Official Albums, Official Albums Streaming, Official Albums Sales, Official Album Downloads, and Official Physical Albums lists, but manages to step back on all of them. The only improvement comes on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, where it leaps from No. 13 to No. 11.
