It’s Thursday, November 6 and we have a Wordle to solve. I have a hint and a clue and the answer all below, but before we get to that we have another puzzle to unravel. Every Wednesday I give you fine Wordlers an extra riddle, brain-teaser or logic puzzle and then Thursday I provide the answer. This was yesterday’s riddle:
A man is walking in the woods and comes across a cabin. He looks inside and sees rows and rows of dead bodies. What happened?
The answer? It was the cabin of a plane that had crashed.
Alright, on we go! Let’s solve this Wordle!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle
How To Play Wordle
Wordle is a daily word puzzle game where your goal is to guess a hidden five-letter word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the game gives feedback to help you get closer to the answer:
- Green: The letter is in the word and in the correct spot.
- Yellow: The letter is in the word, but in the wrong spot.
- Gray: The letter is not in the word at all.
Use these clues to narrow down your guesses. Every day brings a new word, and everyone around the world is trying to solve the same puzzle. Some Wordlers also play Competitive Wordle against friends, family, the Wordle Bot or even against me, your humble narrator. See rules for Competitive Wordle toward the end of this post.

Wordle Bot Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.
CLOUD wasn’t a great opening guess and frankly I didn’t think it would be when I typed it in but I wanted to do something different. With 194 remaining possible solutions, at least I had a yellow “U.” SUPER was pretty super, slashing that number down to just 4, though from here I had to guess. I didn’t guess GUESS but it was close: GUEST left me with just one possibility: GUISE for the win!
Competitive Wordle Score

Somehow, the Bot got this one in three and therefore gets 1 point for that and 1 point for beating me, while I get -1 for losing to the Bot and 0 for guessing in four. Our November totals return to a tie:
Erik: 2 points
Wordle Bot: 2 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
- If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
- You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!
Today’s Wordle Etymology
The word guise comes from Middle English guise (meaning “manner, fashion, way”), which was borrowed from Old French guise (“manner, custom, style”). That, in turn, likely derives from the Frankish wīsa (“manner, way”), from Proto-Germanic wīsō, related to the English word wise (as in “in like-wise”).
So, guise originally meant “manner or fashion,” and later developed the sense of “appearance” or “pretense.”
