Trump admin lawyers ‘obligated’ to greenlight ‘violently illegal’ war plans: US official

A senior U.S. official revealed Monday that lawyers within the Trump administration “are obligated” to greenlight war plans – even those that appear “violently illegal” – and that those who shoot down such plans have mostly been removed or departed themselves, Zeteo reported.

“According to sources with direct knowledge of the matter, the position in the White House and the Pentagon is that if Trump and his lieutenants demand something that sounds violently illegal, the lawyers in those buildings ‘are obligated to get to a Yes,’ one senior US official tells us,” Zeteo’s report reads. “The ones who would vigorously say ‘no, you can’t do this’ have largely been purged or left.”

The Trump administration’s war against Iran kicked off in late February with the killing of more than 100 schoolchildren after the U.S. military struck a girls’ elementary school, which in total killed at least 175 people, per The New York Times.

And, as President Donald Trump weighs escalatory measures in the conflict – including a ground operation to seize enriched uranium, a ground invasion to seize Iran’s Kharg island, and the complete obliteration of Iranian civilian infrastrure – Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has been on a mass purge of top military officials, and with no explanation, sparking speculation that the administration is squashing dissent within its ranks.

“Any shred of moral responsibility or queasiness with slaughter that accidentally popped up every once in a while during Trump’s disastrous first term has been replaced this time around with either genuine or performed bloodlust, both in domestic and foreign affairs,” Zeteo’s report reads. “And that reality is coming to horrific fruition during Trump’s illegal war on Iran.”
