MANILA, Philippines – The Senate committee on agriculture, food, and agrarian reform holds a hearing on Wednesday, April 8, on the impact of oil price hikes on agricultural and fisheries production.
Costs of farm inputs are increasing due to the oil crisis, affecting food production in the country. The Department of Agriculture has set aside funds for fuel subsidies and is securing fertilizer supply.
The government has repeatedly assured the public of stable supply of these inputs, even amid a declaration of a national energy emergency.
